Course Description:  In this minicourse, students will explore fundamental concepts in microbial pathogenesis with a focus on bacterial pathogenesis.  Topics that will be covered include innate immunity, adhesion and invasion, intracellular survival of pathogens, specialized bacterial secretion systems, bacterial toxins, autophagy and phagocytosis, persistence and spread of disease, and CRISPR.
