Course Description: This course will give an overview of current and emerging quantitative proteomics methods in basic science applications. The course will be a mix of lecture and paper discussion. Topics to be covered, among others, include SILAC, post-translational modifications, affinity purification mass spectrometry, isobaric labeling, shotgun vs. targeted proteomics, and data-independent acquisition. The goal of the course is for students to both gain a better understanding of mass spectrometry approaches as well as envision where these extremely versatile approaches could enhance their own research.
