Course Description: Viruses are a major threat to human health and well-being as clearly recent history demonstrates. They also provide a fascinating window into cellular, molecular, and system biology. The constant interplay between viruses trying to establish infection and the host trying to control them presents an ideal system to understand biological mechanisms in action and their regulation. We will discuss virus mechanisms, compare different viral strategies and illustrate some by discussing seminal and current papers. The goal of the course is to gain an understanding of fundamental aspects in virology.
